Following their nominations earlier in the year as part of Hampshire Cricket Board’s Cricket Collective, Al, Ellie, Simon and Stuart were shortlisted and invited to the Cricket Collective Awards night, on 1 November at the Utilita Bowl.
It was a great night of celebration for all those shortlisted fro the award, with delicious food, drinks and of course an epic fireworks display at the end of the evening.
Following the fireworks, the award got underway. We are thrilled to share that Ellie Clayton won her category ‘Growing The Game’. Here’s why Ellie won!
‘Ellie has been a dedicated junior fixture secretary for several years, playing a vital role in managing the logistics of our expanding junior cricket programme. Despite recent simplifications from Hampshire and Surrey Cricket Boards, this season brought significant challenges. With 17 junior sides across five sites, the club was set to host a record-breaking 230 junior fixtures in 2024. However, due to unpredictable British weather and other factors, Ellie had to rearrange 55 matches. Her commitment to ensuring that games go ahead is unwavering, and the completion of so many fixtures is a testament to her persistence and hard work. Ellie also goes above and beyond by contacting opponents a week in advance to ensure all details are clear, ensuring smooth match days. Her efforts, often unnoticed, make her an unsung hero at the club, and her contribution is key to our programme’s success.’
Huge congrats Ellie on her win, and to Al, Simon and Stuart for the nomination – and a huge thank to them all for their hard work for the Club.
