2023 Outstanding Contribution Award presented to the Weekes Family

Each year the club presents the Sydney Jeffery’s Trophy, our Outstanding Contribution Award, in recognition of support to the club off the field of play.

This year the award was presented to the Weekes family. The Weekes family have had a long association with the club. Mum, Nikki has been one of our Safeguarding Officers for a number of years.

Dad Mark has been 4th Xi captain for two years, always a thankless task but his approach on match days is a good one ensuring everyone gets to take part in the game. Mark is also part of our Groundcare team at Broxhead cutting one of the outfields each week.

Daughter Sophie, one of our women's softballers and occasionally playing with Mark in the men’s 4th XI. This year Sophie also become an Activator for Girls Cricket to grow that section. We had 12 girls sign up and with the help and connections of Nikki ran a taster session for a local brownies group.

And finally son Ollie, who plays in our 4th XI and supports all the club events off the field of play.

The club is a family orientated one and the Weekes family are testament to that and are thoroughly deserving of the award presented to them this year by Chairman Duncan Willows.
