On Sunday afternoon, 10 of our women’s players headed to Churt for a sunny afternoon friendly.

Churt batted first and hit some belting shots over the boundary, despite the best efforts of our fielders – putting into practice our recent training on attacking the ball in the field. It was fantastic to see everyone bowling an over and giving it their best, despite some nerves. After a quick break to rehydrate and reapply sun cream Grayshott went into bat. Churt’s fielding and bowling was in great shape, making it tough for the batters. There were some great shots and some good running…plus the odd run out and wicket falling, but who’s counting 🙂

The match finished with Churt 341/4 and Grayshott 257/11. Congrats on the win Churt!

Much to Grayshott’s amusement the match was filmed on Frogbox, which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/live/5i6SkVLwAzA?app=desktop&feature=shared

Cricket really is more than a game for the women’s section. We love to win, but also get so much enjoyment out of training, playing and hanging out together. Some players shared their thoughts:

‘I always feel a winner being on the Grayshott team because we are an awesome group of women, who have each other’s back and enjoy being together. Love playing with you all, love the fun, trying to be better, hitting a few fours and being outside.

Playing cricket for Grayshott always makes me want to do it more, and not give up. I enjoy it so much.

Well done ladies. A joy as always.

Great day regardless of the result! Lovely sunny afternoon with you all.

A lovely afternoon’s cricket, thanks for showing me the ropes.

If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, get in touch or come along to one of our training sessions – every Tuesday 6.45-8pm at the Grayshott Sportsfield.
