The Chargers were back for more indoor action over the weekend, with Nicky Tomlins as captain this week. She won the toss and chose to field first. Frimley Phoenix put on a stellar batting performance but the Chargers bowled and fielded excellently, taking 5 wickets to keep Frimley Phoenix to just 227. The Chargers followed showing some excellent batting prowess, however as the overs fell so did the wickets.

Some last-pair pin point accuracy bowling resulting in the loss of 3 wickets meant it was a nail-biter of a finish – with the Chargers winning by just five runs.

Game Two: Chiddingfold

In second match, the Chargers loss the toss and Chiddingfold elected to field first. Some strong opening bowling from Chidd saw a few wickets fall but our opening pair built a good foundation. Next up Charlie and Becca added 20 without loss, followed by 3rd pair Charlie and Nicky finishing their overs with a further 16 runs, leaving Chidd a target of 243.

Chidd’s first pair faced some accurate bowling and lost three wickets. Their second pair were kept to only 7 runs losing one wicket. As the final pair came into bat they faced a daunting target of 26. They put up a good fight but some fabulous fielding and strategic bowling from the Chargers kept Chidd’s total to 222, giving the Chargers a tidy 21 run win.

The indoor SMASH continues next weekend at Farnham Heath End School, followed by the semi-finals on 3rd December and the final on 10th December. Current league standings can be found here:
