On Sunday the Strikers took on Liphook in a Group A clash at Grayshott. The weather was warm and sunny, the pitch perfect, the snacks prepared and the players prepped and ready to go. Liphook won the toss and opted to field first.

Charlie and Maria opened the batting and despite losing a couple of wickets, rattled off 33 runs in their 4 overs. Amy and Alex followed up with a number of boundaries adding 27 runs to the total. Third pair Ann-Marie and Cady used good communication and a quick turn of pace to steal a number of singles. The fourth and final pair of Cat and Louise, lost one wicket and hit three boundaries to bring the innings to a close on 296/7.

After a brief break the Strikers took to the field with every intention of keeping Liphook to a low score. There was some athletic fielding, a great catch from Ann-Marie and the usual high standard of wicketkeeping from Louise. Some sensible batting from Liphook meant that they stayed in touch with our score right up until the last three overs. Cat, Amy and Charlie bowled with good control under pressure in those final overs to ensure that Liphook couldn’t close the gap. Liphook finished on 288/2.

Congrats on the win Strikers!

Thank you to Louise’s dad for umpiring the match.
