The weekend saw the Strikers in action again in the Surrey SMASH IT Indoor competition. This week the Strikers were in great form against Grayswood and Frimley Phoenix at Farnham Heath End School.

Strikers take on Farnham

In the Strikers’ first match of the evening, they took on Farnham. The Indoor SMASH is played with 6 players for 6 overs, so it’s a fast paced game – blink and you might miss it. Each batting pair faces 2 overs, so not much time to get your eye in! Farnham batted first and put on a strong score of 35, only losing 1 wicket. The pressure was on the Strikers to chase. them down. Losing a couple of wickets, but getting some good runs in – including a 6 and three 4s, the Strikers finished in 40 to win the match.

Second match against Frimley Phoenix

In their second match of the evening, the Strikers faced Frimley Phoenix. Batting first, the Strikers’ pairs got to work and achieved a great overall score of 45, losing 4 wickets. As Frimley batted, the bowling was shared amongst Sonia, Charlie B and Trace. Some fantastic bowling and fielding restricted Frimley Phoenix to a score of 8, with the Strikers taking 5 wickets – to win their second match. Congratulations to the Strikers!

It was another great evening of cricket. Huge thanks to Kat for her umpiring, scoring and organisation on the night – and to the Surrey team for arranging the league.

The Strikers will be in Indoor action again, against Churt and Grayswood on Sunday 16th October.
