For the final outing of the 2022 season, the Strikers and Chargers were in action in their first cricket festival, generously hosted by Chiddingfold Ladies Cricket.

The festival started with a welcome glass of Pimms, so the squad knew it was going to be a good afternoon!

The festival featured 2 teams from Chiddingfold, 1 team from Frimley Phoenix and two Grayshott teams. Unfortunately, one other club wasn’t able to attend, so a hybrid team was created with players from all 3 clubs, which worked brilliantly as everyone got to play several matches over the course of the afternoon.

Cricket was the winner!

Hybrid team at cricket festival

With so much cricket happening, the odd Pimms and the sun shining, the actual scores of the matches faded into the background a little. Cricket was the definite winner of the day!

The Strikers and Chargers both won matches with some fantastic cricket on show. 4s and 6s a plenty – including a hit to the clubhouse roof from Trace – wickets taken from great catches in the field, run outs, stumpings and bowling…it was exciting stuff.

And the hybrid team, affectionately called ‘ChiddShott’ also won which was a great display of teamwork, with a team that has never played together before.

Chiddingfold provided a delicious match tea of sandwiches, scones, biscuits and other delights and the bar flowed too….. The scones were a hit and of course the ‘jam or cream first’ debate was had….it’s cream first, obviously!
