The 2s arrived at the Bourne looking to get back to winning ways with a very strong side. We lost the toss but ended up bowling first which pleased the team

Fines were already flowing before the first ball was bowled due to a major Browner incident. Sampson soon after realised he had forgotten his boots resorting to black trainers instead. Poor start.

The first few overs didn’t get much better. After some disgraceful line and length from Larby, the Bourne were reduced to 5-3 after 4 overs. Rav on his second team debut couldnt keep up with the haribo demand! Following the fast start, the Bourne’s middle order slowed the haribo feast and put on a 130 odd partnership. It must be said on a hot afternoon in the sun our fielding was shocking and our bowling wasn’t up to the usual standards. The skipper came on and after earning himself another fine with a double bounce no ball, resorted to seam up and made the break through. The returning Larby took a couple more wickets but both achieved jug avoidance by taking 4 each. The Bourne managed 195-8 from 48 overs.

Following a relaxing break watching Larby talk to every person in the village that strolled by because ‘they were family friends’, our batsman took to the field.

Our innings was full of highs and lows. The run rate never slowed and everyone chipped in to what was an enthralling batting innings. Special mention to Hannam with a lovely half century dispatching plenty of sixes. Also hats off to our man of the match Tom Waddell for a classy mature display of batting which left us in a strong position. The fines didn’t stop there though. Charles delivered us his usual run out and the Youth batting coach played on meaning our 10 and 11 needed to get 6 to win from 4 overs. A few dodgy singles later and Avery went for the big heave ho edging one down to third man for four and winning us the game!

An excellent afternoon of cricket in the sun which could have gone either way. Onto next week with another big game at home followed by a mid season curry!!

Up the twos!
